About this deal

Another neat feature fairly unique to Bosch robot mowers is the temperature monitoring for the battery. As you know, neither cold nor hot temperatures tend to NOT play nicely with a battery, so when the internal temperature of the robot mower is not between 5 °C and 45 °C (41°F to 133°F), it simply won’t charge. What the Indego S+ doesn’t have is the ability to see its surroundings. It will navigate around objects but does this by bumping into them, rather than actually seeing and completely avoiding them. This is fine for your washing line but your sleeping dog might be less happy about it. Also know as bump sensor, when Bosch Indego 350 robot mower bumps into something, it will now know that there must be an obstacle and starts mowing in a different direction. There’s no automatic zone feature for this Bosch Indego 350 robot mower. Instead what you get is 2 alternatives. The first one is MultiArea feature which allows you to set up up to 3 separate mowing areas each with their own charging station and perimeter wire loop. The second option is to create a zone no larger than 40 m² (0.0099 ac.) by extending the perimeter wire around that smaller zone. I know this was vague explanation, but there’s more info on this in the installation manual should you choose this robot mower. bosch-diy.com As is with all robot lawn mowers, Bosch Indego S+ 400 Connect robotic lawnmower, too, requires very low maintenance:

When laying out the wire avoid angles of less than 45° as this can affect the performance. You can install the wire either tightly against the grass or dig it under the soil, but no deeper than 5 cm (1.97″). At first it’d perhaps be better to install it against the ground rather than under it to find out if your placement is efficient or not. It’s easier to adjust and correct mistakes this way. In the long run it’d be better to dig it under ground though. Robot mowers are very quiet when compared to a regular push mower which tends to roar at around 90 dB. 63 dB in can be compared to a normal conversation. That means you’ll really only hear this little gardener if you’re already fairly close to it. Makes the weekends go by quietly for a change. You can read more here: “ How Loud Are Robot Mowers?” MultiArea feature Bosch Indego S+ 400 Connect has is not the best when it comes to dealing with multiple mowing zones. I’d consider this to be an alternative to a real multi-zone feature. So then, what you get is 2 things. With the 1st one you can set up up to 3 separate mowing areas each with their own charging station and perimeter wire loop. The 2nd option is to create a zone no larger than 40 m² (0.0099 ac.) by extending the perimeter wire around that smaller zone. There’s more info on this in the manual. bosch-diy.com Bosch Indego 350 robot mower’s battery is equipped with temperature monitoring which allows charging only when the battery temperature is between 5 °C and 45 °C (41°F to 133°F). Batteries don’t fare well in neither cold nor hot temperatures.Bosch Indego S+ 400 Connect robotic lawnmower has 3 pivoting small blades down there making up the cutting system. The blades are attached to a rotating disc. There’s also the solid type of cutting system, but this pivoting blade type of cutting system is quieter, safer, and more energy efficient in comparison. As for the negatives, the pivoting small blades attached to a rotating disc are a little less efficient at cutting things. There’s also the higher risk of the small blades just breaking off, but the chance of it actually happening is fairly low.

Add in a solid app that keeps an eye on the weather and schedules mowing times accordingly, dodging any days when you’d rather keep the lawn free from robot activity, and you’ve got one of the most intelligent robot lawn mowers around. Bosch Indego 350 is meant for small lawns up to 350 m² (or 0.087 ac.) with slopes no steeper than 15° (or 27 percent). It’s otherwise an autonomous robotic lawnmower running on electricity and using 18 V 2.5 Ah lithium-ion rechargeable battery. It’s got 3 pivoting small blades for a cutting system that mulches grass pretty quietly (up to 63 dB) while maintaining your lawn at a cutting height of 30-50 mm (or 1.18″ to 1.97″). Store your Indego in dry place out of reach of children and within a temperature range of -20°C and 50°C.Instead of randomly bouncing around your garden like more affordable robot mowers, the Bosch then works in stripes, efficiently starting at one end of the garden and mowing in lines until it’s all done. This doesn’t give you the same stripey lawn you’d expect from a mower with a roller, but some striping is still visible when it’s finished. More importantly, it hasn’t endlessly trundled over the same bits of lawn, so there’s much less wear and tear than we’ve seen with robot mowers that move randomly. This is basically a manual command that makes this robot mower clear just a small area in a few meter radius from where you used this feature. This is useful for when you only want some certain area to be cut rather than wait for the mower to get to it with a full mowing cycle of the entire lawn. The alarm can be enabled or disabled. It goes off when fishy things happen to it. The correct PIN makes all good again. Putting a camera, even if fake, in an obvious easy to spot location overlooking the area will at least make the potential thief think twice.

As was mentioned earlier, the charging and mowing cycle is automatic. That means you can just watch or do whatever and the mower takes care of the lawn and itself to some extent autonomously, unless you instructed it to do otherwise, say for example you didn’t set a mowing schedule or didn’t enable the SmartMowing feature to allow it to schedule it by itself. It might not be for you if your garden layout was very complex and/or consisted of more than 3 larger zones or the slopes were steeper than 27% (or 15°) and you wanted cut height to be less than 30 mm (1.18″) or more than 50 mm ( 1.97″ ). Apart from the higher price and no remote control, I don’t really see a reason against going with this one – it gets the job done.
